1-2-3 Contest Progress

As soon as I started making the garments for the pattern review contest (previous post on this here), plans changed a little! I have added a different top in matching skirt fabric. I haven't decided which top will be removed from the capsule. So far, the plan is still to make all the tops I had initially decided and then take one out at the end.

Now onto the finishes! I have finished garment #1 and garment #2 for the contest. This was fast because skirt didn't need muslining and top pattern was already tried and true. I did do some hacking for the top but it was relatively straightforward and worked on my first try! That's great because I have very little of this chiffon left. There might be a short cami I can squeeze out of this just to give myself more options.

Garment 1 - McCall 7606 Petal Skirt

This skirt is a really simple silhouette and yet, has an impact. I love the way the petals open up to show off the leg. I used a chiffon fabric and it just drapes perfectly!

Garment 2 - Rad Pattern Unicorn dress hack

I've made the unicorn dress before. It is a great pattern as is. After making the McCall skirt, I still had enough fabric left over to make a top and I thought top and skirt together would give off a wrap dress look while being separates! I chose the unicorn dress for the hack because I love the sleeves and the way the front closes nicely, and also because it was already printed out. The hack was to add a short peplum in tunic length. The pattern does not come with a top/tunic version but it was really easy to make that part up! You'll get to see the top in its entirety in a future post. I just don't have any other bottoms done to photograph with it yet.

Sewing by Ti - Monster Tour It's October and that means it is time to make your little ones (or big ones!) Halloween costumes! Growing up in India we did not celebrate Halloween so when I first moved to the US and was living in an apartment, I was amazed at all the dress up and trick or treating concept. I made sure to buy tons and tons of candy because we got so many kids coming to our doorstep. Love Notions Lyric Dress

Love Notions Lyric Dress The dress I've been dreaming of is here :) I've wanted a very simple, button-down dress ever since I made the Jessica dress ( blogged here ). Jessica dress is great, but I wanted a full bodice so I don't have to wear a strapless bra. Enter, Love Notions Lyric ! How lovely is this dress? Of course, I had to go with my hoarded mustard rayon challis. I use mustard for A-List patterns. Lyric is one of them. The pattern comes with an A-line skirt and gathered skirt. There are various sleeve options including a very cute bell sleeve. I made the sleeveless version which is finished with a bias tape. Pattern notes: Made my standard petite adjustment by taking out 1" from the bodice and 1" from the skirt. Took in the waist a little.
